both sides

Mammoth China Outbound exists because its founders spent their careers on opposite ends of a border that has no clean crossing — and concluded that the missing piece was infrastructure, not another agency.

What is Mammoth China Outbound?

Mammoth China Outbound is a cross-border media infrastructure company. It connects Chinese advertisers, agencies and DSPs with global premium media supply — premium audio, connected TV, broadcaster inventory, creators and programmatic — by operating as one accountable counterparty on both sides of the China border.

The company is not an advertising agency, a media reseller or a trading desk. Those three models all sit inside the media transaction and compete for a share of it. Mammoth sits underneath the transaction and supplies the capability that lets it happen at all: contracting, settlement, third-party ad serving, verification, creative localisation and programmatic connectivity.

That distinction is the whole business. Because Mammoth does not compete for planning mandates, agencies can use it without conceding client relationships. Because it does not build bidding technology, DSPs can use it without ceding platform ground. Because it holds Chinese demand relationships, media owners can reach that demand without opening a China office.

Why does this company need to exist?

Chinese advertisers command roughly 20% of the global advertising market but can only easily buy from three self-serve platforms. Premium audio, CTV, broadcaster and creator inventory has no cross-border route in, so enormous demand meets narrow access — and the gap is operational rather than strategic.

The scale is documented. WPP Media data reported by Axios in June 2025 put China at approximately 20% of the global ad market — larger than its share of global GDP — with nine of the world's twenty-five largest advertising sellers being Chinese companies. China's domestic digital ad market alone is forecast at $163.1B in 2026, growing 15.7% annually.

Meanwhile the outbound ambition is accelerating. The Economist reported in January 2026 that a new generation of Chinese companies is expanding around the world, and the agency market has begun responding with dedicated outbound divisions. What has not been built is the connective layer those companies need to buy media abroad.

Who built Mammoth China Outbound?

Mammoth was founded by operators from both sides of the crossing: Gordan Domlija, former APAC CEO of Wavemaker, and Jay Faires, former C-suite executive at Disney, Lionsgate and Warner Music, together with operating partners who held senior roles in the Chinese agency market and in Chinese ad-serving technology.

The composition is deliberate rather than opportunistic. A cross-border infrastructure business requires four distinct capabilities held simultaneously: demand-side agency relationships in China, operating experience selling global media into Chinese budget, ad-serving and verification technology, and senior supply-side relationships with international media owners. The founding team was assembled so that each is held by someone who has done the work rather than contracted for it.

How is Mammoth positioned in the market?

Mammoth operates as a neutral layer, which is a commercial choice with strategic consequences. Neutrality means the company can serve BlueFocus and TecDo and MeetSocial simultaneously, can carry inventory from competing media owners, and can integrate with competing DSPs — because it is not bidding against any of them.

The trade-off is that Mammoth captures less of any single transaction than an agency would. The compensation is that it can be present in a far larger number of transactions, and that its position strengthens as volume accumulates rather than depending on winning individual pitches.
